Locally owned and operated with over 20-years experience by previous Crab Shack Orlando owners! The Charron family moved to the Orlando area from New England over 30-years ago.  After being here for a couple of years, they recognized that there was a serious lack of restaurants featuring authentic New England-style seafood and ocean specialties from around the country.  It was with that impetus that they opened their first restaurant on International Drive.  The Crab Shack was situated on the lake at Wet'n Wild, smack-dab in the middle of the tourist district, and immediately became a popular destination for vacationers and locals alike.  A full menu of New England-style seafood, Chesapeake Bay crab specialties, and local fish, shrimp, clams, and oysters became an instant hit!  While on I-Drive, they were among the first to introduce the gigantic Dungeness crab to the area and turned the locals on to such delicacies as clam cakes, New Orleans-style seafood gumbo and shrimp creole, baked-stuffed clams, authentic and, of course, the wildly popular New England clam boil. Following the immediate success of their I-Drive location, the family set up another Crab Shack across town, on Semoran Blvd., at the East-West Expressway.  They brought with them their very successful menu, as well as a full-service liquor bar and lounge.  Folks on the east side of town quickly warmed to the thick and creamy clam chowder and gobbled up clams and oysters by the bushel.  After several years of delivering the finest in fresh seafood in both locations, the family members decided that change was in the cards as several of them went off in different directions, chasing new adventures and dreams. Family members Gerry Ireland and son Scott Charron, both residents of the Clermont-area, recognized once again that something was missing from the up-and-growing neighborhoods of West Orange and Lake Counties.  As orange groves disappeared, new homes and neighborhoods began to sprout up everywhere.  With it, the usual growth patterns began to take shape, as more schools, shopping centers, professional businesses, and yes, even restaurants and diners sprang up everywhere.  But the glaring void that Gerry and Scott were feeling was the fact that there just wasn't a place where locals could get their hands on quality, fresh seafood, delivered at a reasonable price with the friendliest service.  Not ones to simply ignore a calling and a sense of community duty, both Gerry (and family) and Scott (and family) decided to help fill the void and contribute to the quality of life in an area that both families call home! They already knew what it took to deliver great seafood options and just exactly the types of food that people were looking for.  So they set out to find a location, settling on the convenient location on State Rd. 50, and opened G & S Seafood Market just prior to the summer of 2008.  As with any new business, it will take some initial time to get accustomed to the preferences and desires of the local community.  But Scott, Gerry, Christine, Nick, and Ashleigh will continue to tweak the variety and selection, striving to become YOUR local seafood connection.  It is important that you help shape the new market by sharing your suggestions and seafood ideas.  After all, they want to be your friendly neighborhood seafood market.  That means that they cannot do it without you.
